About

I edit backwards.

I’m Usman, a visual strategist and video editor for creators, brands and founders. I don’t start with your footage; I start with your analytics, then engineer the hooks, pacing and structure that make people stay and buy.

The method

Editing is the last 10%. Strategy is the rest.

Three disciplines carry every engagement, from the first frame to the final call to action.

01

Hook Engineering

Every video opens on a claim, a payoff or a pattern interrupt, chosen from what your audience has already proven it stops for. Nothing about the open is lucky.

02

Retention Editing

Pacing mapped to attention curves, not vibes. Cuts, zooms and chapter turns land where the data says viewers drift, so they don’t.

03

Conversion Cuts

Views are the means, not the metric. CTAs placed at peak-intent moments, pitches restructured for the viewers most likely to buy.

Services

The stack behind every edit.

Short-form, long-form, grading, packaging. Four disciplines, one system.

Short-form edits

Hook-first cuts for Reels, Shorts and TikTok, captioned to the beat and built from a tested hook matrix.

Long-form YouTube editing

Retention-audited edits with cold opens, chapter turns and pacing mapped to the attention curve.

Hooks & packaging

Openers, titles and thumbnails engineered as one promise, so the click and the watch agree.

Grading & finish

Cinematic color and clean mixes, so every frame looks like the budget was bigger. Drag to compare.

01

Audit

We look at your last 10–12 videos and find exactly where attention leaks.

02

System

Hooks, formats and pacing rules designed for your audience, not templates.

03

Ship

A predictable delivery cadence, with every edit reviewed against the numbers.

04

Compound

Monthly reviews feed what worked back into the system. It gets sharper every cycle.

Testimonials

Proof, not just praise.

The kind of thing clients say after the result, not during the pitch.

It doesn’t feel like editing anymore, it feels like strategy. Every cut has a reason.

Arlan K.Business coachYouTube system

We’d worked with three editors before. Usman was the first to show up with a retention audit instead of a showreel. That told us everything.

One hour of podcast a week became my entire content presence. Nine enterprise leads in a quarter, and I never touched a timeline.

FAQ

Before you book the call.

Everything clients usually ask before the first call.

What kinds of videos do you edit?

Long-form YouTube, Shorts, Reels and TikTok, podcast repurposing, and founder-brand content. If attention and conversion are the goal, it’s in scope; one-off event or wedding edits aren’t my focus.

How do revisions work?

Two structured revision rounds are included on every edit. Notes are gathered in one pass per round, timestamped, so revisions converge instead of drifting.

How fast do you deliver?

Shorts run on a 48-to-72-hour cycle once the system is set up. Long-form edits typically land inside five working days, depending on runtime and revision depth.

What do you need from me to start?

Raw footage and read access to your channel analytics. The first thing I produce isn’t an edit, it’s a retention audit of your recent uploads, so the cuts have a reason.

Which tools do you edit with?

Premiere Pro and After Effects for the edit and motion, DaVinci Resolve for grading. Delivery is platform-native: correct aspect ratios, safe zones and caption styles per platform.

Do you work with international clients?

Yes, most of my clients are in the US, UK and Europe. Everything runs async through a shared board, with one weekly call if you want it.
